Markets.com - Forex Trading Review

Markets.com is operated by Safecap Investments Limited, which is authorised by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) and has had regulatory approval for Forex operations since 2008. Safecap is, in turn, part of Playtech, which is one of the world's premier gambling software development companies and a constituent of the FTSE 250 index.

Accounts

Like many other Forex broker sites, Markets.com basically gives you the option of signing up for a 'real money' account or instead a demo account, which allows you to get to grips with trading without any risk to your own money.

Nonetheless, even the free demo account enables you to enjoy such features as real-time market data, charts and analysis tools and access to an online support team.

Markets.com Bonus

One other great reason to become a member of Markets.com is the £25 that you are given by the site simply for registering. You don't even need to put down a deposit, and you can start trading straight away.

As always, though, it is important to consult the terms and conditions for any bonus that you receive from the site, including what you need to do to be able to withdraw the money from your account.

Features

If you sign up with Markets.com principally for the Forex trading, you will probably be pleased to learn that the site enables you to trade more than 50 currency pairs, including all majors, minors and various exotics. As a member of the site, you can trade Forex with the assistance of advanced charting tools across its desktop, mobile and tablet platforms.

However, the site also has a fine reputation as a portal for the trading of over 25 of the world's major indices such as NASDAQ and the Dow Jones, and you can even trade Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) with no commission and competitive spreads.

Shares and commodities such as aluminium, silver, sugar and wheat are other specialities of the site.

Platforms

You can take advantage of both web-based and mobile trading platforms at Markets.com. As the term 'web-based' may suggest, the former is completely online, so you don't need to download anything to start trading, while the latter is available for iOS and Android devices from the Apple App Store and Google Play store respectively.

Unlike some rival Forex brokers, Markets.com does not depend on third-party trading software, both of the aforementioned platforms having been developed in-house. Both of them offer a high level of functionality to ambitious traders, with the Trading Central area providing access to charts and other tools to inform you in your trading decisions.

Education

Another feature that you should expect from any decent Forex broker is a rich database of educational resources, and Markets.com does not disappoint in this regard.

You may simply wish to know more about the basics of trading, such as what a CFD is and how CFD trading works. Alternatively, you might be a more seasoned trader with an interest in how global events happening right now are affecting the international markets.

Along the way, you can also make the most of webinars on such subjects as live trading, or find out more about fundamental and technical analysis. The site can even educate you on all manner of aspects of Forex, including by providing examples of Forex trading.

Deposits/Withdrawals

There can't be too many other Forex brokers that give you such a broad range of accepted payment methods from which to choose for putting down a deposit.

If you wish to use a credit card or debit card, MasterCard, Maestro, Visa and Diners Club are all accepted, but you've also got the option of wire transfer or an e-wallet system like Skrill or Neteller.

The site does not charge you any fees for depositing funds into your account, and withdrawing money is similarly straightforward, although you should note the minimum withdrawal amounts and typical timeframe that apply to each payment method.

Customer Support

You can get help on Markets.com via the trading interface itself by - in the case of the desktop platform - clicking 'My Account' at the top right-hand corner of the page and clicking 'Support Center'. There, you will find an FAQs database answering such common questions as "How can I withdraw money from my account?" and "Which types of instruments do you offer?"

However, if you still need to get in touch with a member of the site team, you can do so on a '24/5' basis by completing and submitting a simple online form or launching the 'live chat' feature.

Bottom Line

Markets.com doesn't offer the multi-tiered account options that certain rival Forex brokers do, but it's otherwise a fine place to get involved in the ever-stimulating world of online trading.

In common with a lot of other sites in this industry, Markets.com gives you the option of a free demo account so that you can fine-tune your trading strategies before putting any of your own money at risk. The £25 bonus simply for registering is another very welcome perk.

The Markets.com site and interface even look very good, and customer support is strong. We really aren't seeing much to complain about with this well-established, functional and fully-featured site.
